Get Involved on Town Committees or Boards

The opportunities listed are available to residents regardless of background or political perspectives. Openings will be updated as they become available. While expertise or experience are helpful qualifications, personal passion and a commitment to be an active contributor to the Town of Wilton are also important.


ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE

  • Purpose: to advise and guide the Town Board as it seeks to implement low-stress bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure. Focus is to interconnect neighborhoods, allow informal recreation and provide access to a variety of locations. Projects may include Bike Routes (on-road/ shared lanes), Bike Lanes (road adjacent) and Multi-use paths (MUP) (hard-surface off-road). Past experience in development, funding or implementation will be valued for consideration.

LAND CONSERVATION COMMITTEE

  • Purpose: to advise the Town Board in efforts to enhance and implement strategies for land conservation and the preservation of open space in the Town of Wilton. A passion for conservation and knowledge of planning, zoning or town code are valued attributes.
  • Please submit resume and brief letter of intent to committee co-chairs Toni Sturm and Joe Keneally at tsturm@townofwilton.com, jkeneally@townofwilton.com by end of day Friday 2/20/26.


ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS

  • The ZBA hears and decides issues regarding variances, appeals and special exceptions as may be granted by NYS law and Wilton Town Code.
  • Position available as a ZBA Alternate – a 1 year appointment. Alternates are expected to attend the monthly meetings (4 th Thursday of the month at 7 pm), and will step in at a meeting as a voting member in case of absence of a regular member.
