A Highway Work Permit is required by any entity proposing work within the Town’s right-of-way. If a homeowner is installing a new driveway, the contractor performing such work is required to obtain a Highway Work Permit. If a homeowner is doing the work themselves, they must obtain a Highway Work Permit, and in such cases, proof of Homeowner’s Insurance must be submitted as the insurance certificate. Please see the Highway Work Permit under Online Forms and Documentation to obtain a Highway Work Permit.
A Construction of Driveway Permit is required for any new or altered driveway. A Permit is not required for simply re-paving or adding stone to a pre-existing driveway, even if work is performed by an entity, unless the dimensions of such driveway are altered or added to, or ditching is required. If ditching is required, a Highway Work Permit will also be required. Please see the Construction of Driveway Permit under Online Forms and Documentation to obtain a Construction of Driveway Permit.
